Attendance
Attendance in school is the most important factor behind successful outcomes and developing the emotional and social wellbeing of a child.
The Welsh Government have set a target of 97% attendance for all children. This equates to 6 days off school in the year.
If a child's attendance drops to 90% this means that they miss on average 20 days a year.
If it drops to 80% then this means 40 days in a year!
What You can do to help:
- Set a regular bedtime and morning routine.
- Schedule appointments outside school hours when possible.
- Communicate with the school if your child must be absent for any reason.
- Talk to your child about the importance of being present and engaged.
In order to help you track and monitor your child's attendance, we send regular notifications via ClassCharts and we will text you if your child is not in school and you have not provided a valid reason.
On the rare instances when a child is too ill to attend school, you have the option of ringing the school or notifying us via ClassCharts.

Closely linked to attendance, is punctuality , or not being late to lessons or school.
Being late means missed time, it also has a huge impact on wellbeing, friendships and understanding.

- 15 minutes late every day equates to 10 days lost per year
- 20 minutes late every day equates to 13 days lost per year
- 30 minutes late every day equates to 19 days lost per year
