Pastoral Support
At Ysgol Dyffryn Aman we pride ourselves on the pastoral care that we offer to each and every child in the school. Pastoral teams, each comprise of a Head of Year and Deputy Head of Year and these are line-led by a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Each team is supported by an Inclusion Officer, a Family Liaison Officer and our Pastoral Support Officer.
As well as providing support to pupils in need, we aim to provide proactive pastoral care that promotes good mental health and wellbeing. This is supported by our curriculum through our Health and Wellbeing and the REACH Programme as well as a comprehensive PHSE programme that is delivered through registration classes.
Assemblies
All pupils and students receive weekly assemblies. These are organised by the the pastoral teams and provide an opportunity for giving important messages to the whole year group. Assemblies will often be supported by external speakers and will be relevant for the needs of the year group at each stage in their education. They may include:
- Pastoral discussions on important issues such as online safety
- Careers and options discussions
- Contemporary topics and commemorations of important events
Attendance at assemblies is compulsory for all pupils and students and are an important part of the pastoral programme.
School Counselling Service
Pupils and students in the school have access to the Area 43 in-reach counselling service. In order to access this service pupils can be referred by heads of year or parents/guardians.
